“We are passionate about what we do and who we do it for.”

— John R. Chambless, Jr, AIA, Principal

Chambless King Architects is an award-winning architecture firm focused on connecting people and communities through thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and care. Our projects range in scale and budget but remain focused on our core desire to invest in the communities we serve and create lasting, positive impact.

We are rooted in authentic human connection and have been committed to providing quality architecture and service since Rock Chambless established the first generation of our Alabama-based firm in 1961.

When John Chambless and Stephen King expanded the firm in 2012, they did so with a belief that good design has the power to improve lives. Our team fosters genuine relationships with every client and works to empower them through a collaborative process that helps develop their vision and guide them through the crucial process of design and construction.

Key principles purposefully guide our approach. We hold our practice to these standards to stay true to our values and direct our future.

We are built to serve.

We are structured around a mission to provide comprehensive care. Project teams are strategically organized to personally give clients the attention and support they deserve throughout all stages of the design and construction process.

We are motivated by excellence.

We want to partner with clients to design and build something great. The goal—every time—is to produce architecture at the highest level regardless of budget constraint or project type. Every project deserves this commitment. In the end, the merit of excellence is what lasts.

We know design creates value.

Design matters. We arrive at solutions otherwise missed when we demand critical thinking and consideration at every level. Good design surprises and improves the way we live. Budget parameters, construction methods, and materials can work together to create beauty, draw a community in, and inspire action.

We see the power of visualization.

We endeavor for every project to be visualized in a way that brings design ideas into focus and exposes a beautiful, unique reality. Throughout the design process we explore options, develop concepts, and make adjustments to align with project budgets and goals. Realistic modeling and rendering software allow us to create accurate, understandable visualizations along each step to empower clients to make the right decisions for their project.

We understand the importance of constraints.

For six decades, we built a firm on the principle of taking budgets and schedules seriously. Our experience gives us confidence to explore a project’s scope, meet its budgets, and deliver a successful product. Excellence is a friend of constraint and we take pride in stewarding our client’s investment.

We are committed to care.

We love what we do and are devoted to doing it well. Protecting a client’s investment and vision is essential. We listen and act, guiding clients with focus and dedication through every step of the process.

“Every project pushes us to be better.”
