$30 million Guntersville City Harbor now moving forward on hotel, condos

The City Harbor project is about to enter a new phase, about a year after the $30 million development launched on the banks of Lake Guntersville.

Patrick Lawler, the owner and developer of the multi-use property, said crews should break ground within the next 45 to 60 days on 20 residential condo units.

“Presales are taking place right now,” he said. “Then we should start work on the hotel this summer.”

The next phase will be a $15 million destination Hilton-branded hotel with about 90 rooms.

Among the commercial tenants at City Harbor are Levi’s on the Lake, Home Re.Decor, Another Broken Egg Cafe, The Wake Cafe, The Brewers Cooperative, The Cigar Room, Big Mike’s Steakhouse and La Esquina Cocina. Lawler said the commercial portion is fully occupied.

Direct tax revenue from the project, once the hotel is completed, is estimated to be more than $950,000 a year.

Lawler said the project has exceeded his expectations by “110 percent.”

“We knew it would be good,” he said.

He said he is currently in discussions on a project in Decatur, and talking to other communities about similar developments.
