Chambless King Architects Headquarters Renovation

The Montgomery office of Chambless King Architects is located on the third floor of the Teague Hardware Warehouse Building. Built in 1895, the building boasts three stories of timber framing with a masonry facade, 15-foot ceilings, and large punched windows. Chambless King Architects renovated 3,400 square feet to accommodate an open studio for design and production staff, meeting spaces, and private offices for principals.

The design solution focuses on the relationship between historic and new materials while taking advantage of natural daylighting. The original exposed brick and beams complement the open-office furniture in the studio space while a reclaimed-wood accent wall in the entry contrasts large glass doors. The conference room was designed around the unique angular shape of the building and has sweeping views of the riverfront.
