Hoover city leaders turned out this morning for the groundbreaking of the city’s first official entertainment district, spearheaded by Birmingham developer Broad Metro.

Village Green, located at Stadium Trace Village, will be an event venue that combines an amphitheater stage with a multi-purpose pavilion, a multi-use bar, and an outdoor recreation area around a common green area.

The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2023. Chambless King Architects designed the space, with Gonzalez-Strength & Associates as landscaper and engineer.

Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato said the project “will broaden our citizens and visitors’ opportunities for great, kid-friendly family entertainment, restaurants and exposure to local artists.”

Village Green will have amphitheater seating around a 10,000-square-foot public area with a synthetic turf lawn. On the north side will be a pedestrian street, while on the southern portion of the lawn sits a 40-foot by 32-foot covered stage, with 800 square feet of stage support space.
