River Region Health Center
The River Region Health Center is a two-story, 50,000-square-foot medical office building encompassing approximately three acres at the Jackson Hospital campus. The facility functions as a primary care center for the un-insured and the under-insured citizens of the River Region. A $12 million grant awarded to Health Services, Inc. funded construction.
A variety of health-related services are offered to the public at the River Region Health Center, including dental, radiology, podiatry, pediatrics, OBGYN, adult medicine, a pharmacy, and WIC and social services. The medical staff at the River Region Health Center has the capacity to treat nearly 26,000 patients and handle 80,000 medical and dental visits annually.
A two-story glass lobby runs the length of the front facade, allowing maximum daylighting into the facility. Care was taken in the design of sidewalks, parking areas, and roadways to preserve oak trees original to the site and to incorporate an underground rain harvest water recovery system. To help meet LEED Gold certification, fuel efficient vehicle parking was included in the parking lot and a highly efficient HVAC design and innovative water efficient plumbing fixtures were installed in the building.
