Rodney Scott’s BBQ

Owned by James Beard award-winning chef and pitmaster Rodney Scott and the Pihakis Restaurant Group, this restaurant chain is known for its South Carolina-style whole hog barbecue. Their new Miami location is the adaptive reuse of an old auto body shop.

The design sought to blend the gritty charm of the building’s industrial past with the vibrant energy of Miami. Exterior masonry, exposed steel beams and polished concrete floors were preserved while large openings were added to flood the space with natural light and connect indoor and outdoor seating areas. The interior layout celebrates the art of barbecue with a casual, lively ambiance and an open kitchen that allows guests to watch the pitmasters at work.
